K8200 / 3DRAG Parallel Z-Axis Spindle Gear
thingiverse
For the Velleman K8200 3D printer, an upgrade involves replacing the right steering track rod with a control rod of the same type as the left one (TR8x1.5). This is connected to the right side by a T5 belt over two idler pulleys, while the left-side spindle torque is transferred. The original motor drives the Z-axis parallel spindle gear. The steering rod holder on the right side should be replaced with a new one that keeps ball bearings for the right spindle. To achieve this, find a closed T5 belt of defined length between 1060-1090mm (1075mm in our case). Removing lower angle brackets from the top cross bar can avoid loss of printing height. Updating max printing height in software/firmware is necessary. Additional needs include a spindle with an 8mm diameter, M3x10 and M5x10 screws, M8x30 screws, M8 washers, 608 ball bearings, and a 1075mm closed T5 belt. Assembly time is approximately 2-3 hours, and printing parts takes around 3-4 hours.
