K8200 / 3Drag electronics mounting plate

The suggested mounting method for the electronics board of the Velleman K8200 poses a significant risk of damage. The board is secured with two screws inserted through its edge, making it vulnerable to impact. If the case encounters an obstacle, it's likely that the PCB will detach completely, resulting in catastrophic failure. To address this issue, I designed a custom mount that ensures a safe and stable installation. This mount is bolted to the printer frame using standard square nuts and M5 bolts. The electronics board is then secured to the mount with four M3 bolts. Dividing the mount into two parts simplifies its printing process: a mounting plate and a rail. The rail fits snugly between the plate and the aluminum frame, providing essential stability. The absence of glue is unnecessary, as the M5 mounting bolts securely hold the components together. The long M3 bolts shown in the image are 25 mm in length. I used what was available at the time for testing purposes; however, 15 mm would have been a more suitable choice. A high infill percentage is required to print the mounting plate stably. I recommend an infill level of 70-75% to achieve optimal results.
