K40 Upgraded to 600mm x 400mm

A design to upgrade a K40 C02 laser to a bed size of 600mm x 400mm.I designed and made this machine in 2021 to upgrade my K40 laser engraver. The project involves cutting the metal cabinet of the K40 and rejoining with acrylic parts which can be cut with the K40 before you dismantle it.I was a bit dubious about using acrylic for joining the body for fire reasons but I covered the internal surfaces of the acrylic with kitchen foil and, as yet, have not had a problem.The design uses V-Slot, 12mm rails, acrylic brackets and 3d printed parts, overall the design worked quite well but I made the mistake of using 6mm belts which I think caused some small backlash issues, if I were to build it again I would use larger belts.This model is supplied for interest and ideas only.
