K40 rebuild 60x27cm MKS DLC32

Here I present my rebuild of the K40. New working area is 60cm to 27cm. Up to now I´m very happy, but there is still some work to do. If you have questions or additions fell free to comment. I'm going to make a youtube video abaout wiring and grbl settings. It will be presented here as well. This projekt is in progress and will be finished soon. To do's - Belt tensioner for x and y axis (work in progress) - Panel for electronics (work in progress) As a owner of a K40 CO² laser, my aim was to extend the working area to a maximum and optimize the use of space within the case. I didn´t like the use of v-slot profiles and I chose mgn 12 rails instead. I want to thank the folowing designers for the inspiration. - https://der-frickler.net/technik/k40laser - https://replicantfx.com/k40-laser-cutter-rebuild-12x24in-2/ - https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3401855 Bearing mount, motor mount and belt pulley are from replicantfx. I also used some parts by other publishers which where very helpful an I want to thank for. - https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4562348 - https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5043045 - https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4948715 So far so good, I want to start with the needed items: Aluminum Extrusion Motedis.de or Banggood.com - Bosch Type 20mm Slot 6 - 1x 2040 750mm - 2x 2040 380mm - 2x 2020 800mm - 1x X-Motor NEMA17 mount - Various Slot 6 nuts for M3/M4/M5 as well as screws in different lengths MGN12 Linear Rails - 1x MGN12 700 or 750mm - 2x MGN12 350mm - 3x MGN12H carriage block Pulleys n Belts - 2x GT2 20T 5mm bore - 1x GT2 20T 8mm bore - 3x 20T 5mm GT2 Timing Belt Idler Pulley - 1x Coupler 5 to 8mm - 2x Linear Bearing 608 - ~800mm 8mm linear rod - ~4m GT2 belt Nema 17 motors - 1 standard Nema 17 1.8 angle - 1 Nema 17 dual shaft 1.8 angle Z Table I thougt a lot about the design of the Z table. it schould be easy to install and give a maximum freedom of movement. needed parts: - 1x M8 rod (50cm is enough) - 4x 20t pulleys with 8mm bore - 4x ball bearing 608 - 2m gt2 belt closed loop - 2m alloy angle section 10x5mm - 2m alloy angle section 5x10mm - M3 screws and nuts Electronics After the 1st rebuild and electrical installation I recognized that the stock Nemas work with 0.9 degree and the stock belt pitch is 2.3mm. I didn't find a way to reconfigure the M2 nano Board. So I started to find another board to control the laser. I chose the MKS DLC 32 beacause it supports all my needs, has a good performance and you can use lasergrbl and/ or lightburn. For the Installation I bought a BUZ11 Mosfet and a 1k ohm resistor and installed it like the shown scheme. After installation of the electronics I was excited how well it works and I can recommend the use of the DLC 32 board. The installation scheme works perfectly, much better than expected. The use of the L input for PWN/ TTL signal works very fine and you can still limit the max power via the Poti. For more information read the makerforums articel. I want to thank the following forum for their work. https://forum.makerforums.info/t/grbl-1-1f-config-with-prontoneer-cnc-shield/9155/11 needed parts: - MKS DLC 32 - MOSFET (BUZ 11 in my case other will work as well) - 1k ohm resistor - SH plugs for Nemas, endstops and control wires - power supply for MKS DLC board - Ampere meter The MKS DLC is delivered with a pre installed GRBL Software. I havn't done any changes. except of the settings via lightburn. changelog: 20220127_delted wiring sceme from makerforums 20220127_ad final wiring sceme MKS DLC 32 for K40 CO² Laser 20220201_ad lightburn settings
