K40 Laser Engraver Mirror Alignment Plug

<p>This is a simple holder for a mini 6mm laser diode module that fits into the tube of a K40/equivalent CO2 laser engraver/cutter.</p> <p>There are channels on the side for the laser module wires to exit the tube to connect to a battery.</p> <p>There is a flange to prevent the plug from going too far into the tube and to lie flush against the tube to ensure the laser is centered.</p> <p>This is my first Thing. Please tell me if I'm doing something wrong/ignorant. Do not hesitate to educate/correct me. I also didn't want any flex in the walls which would alter the laser module's trajectory</p></div> How I Designed This</h3> <p>When I was aligning the mirrors for the first time, I burned my hand twice as I was getting impatient. I figured there had to be a better, smarter way of doing this. Instead of checking alignment with a test fire of the laser every time I fiddled with the mirror(s), I mocked up this laser module holder so I could get real-time feedback from my mirror adjustments. There are channels on either side of the plug for the laser module wires to connect to a 3V battery.</p> <h3> SAFETY</h3> <p>Obviously, REMOVE THIS PLUG BEFORE USING THE LASER. In fact, I would suggest unplugging the laser engraver completely while using this plug. I am not responsible for damage to your laser and/or bodily injury. As always, BE SMART AND VIGILANT WHEN IT COMES TO SAFETY - especially with dangerous equipment like these engravers.
