This adapter was built to replace the lens mount on the K40 "Cheap Chinese 40W CO2 laser engraver/cutter." Using this, you can install the original lens or swap in a diode laser mounted in a popular aluminum diode heatsink like the one seen in Victoryrush's ebay photo (where I got mine from). The heatsink should be suitable for 1W or less diodes. It works with either option. The K40 lens tube measures 15mm at its mounting point on the holder. Between its fins, it measures 15.5mm. This adapter was made to fit snugly on the laser diode heatsink and screws tightly onto the K40 lens. Both are expected to be about 1.5-1.9mm thick. You can also use the prongs to secure the lens or diode by wrapping strong fishing line around them or tying it with a wire (like bread tie). While this is not necessary, if you want extra assurance it won't come loose. Note: I have a 2W blue diode and the previous heatsink was not enough for it. I got a new heatsink which is larger, so stay tuned for an upcoming design featuring that one with a fan attached.
