A Simplified Method to Calibrate Your K40 Laser Cutter. Place the part labeled BED on the bed, while positioning the other component over the X-axis gantry. Hold your workpiece up until it lightly touches the bottom of the tool.\nTo calculate distance, place a piece of cardboard in the bed at an angle and determine the point where the cutting results in the sharpest edge after cutting a long rectangle. Note that the focus distance may need to be adjusted for your specific machine.\nThe included CorelDraw and SVG files will facilitate this process. When engraving followed by cutting, ensure you select the invisible white square located in the upper left of the file - this guarantees that the engrave and cut operations are properly aligned.\nWhat I discovered was that the optimal distance for cutting is actually higher than what you might expect from the bed height!
