K40 laser cutter Combiner Mount Test Plug
thingiverse
I tested a plug for the K40 Combiner Mount that enabled insertion from the laser cutting bed compartment and test firing to check if the laser exit hole was aligned to the beam. A piece of paper covered the beam exit hole, I took a pencil rubbing to determine the edges of the hole, then fired the laser and measured the X and Y distances from the left and bottom of the hole edge to set the beam hole position. Using Customizer, I adjusted the X and Y positions, saved the STL file and verified if the beam hole was centered correctly. If it was, a test pulse would reach all the way to the laser head and interact with the test material without significant smoke appearing on the Test Plug. I printed in PLA because ABS fumes are toxic.
