Since CO2 lasers are invisible to the human eye, calibration of the mirrors on Chinese K40 CO2 laser cutters can be a tedious process. To make this task easier, I designed a nozzle that clips onto the front of the laser tube. This nozzle allows for the installation of a small, regulated laser diode inside. A battery pack powers the diode with 4.5 volts, which is sufficient to emit a strong, visible red light. With the help of the mount, the laser shines directly on the mirrors, enabling rough adjustments to be made for the CO2 laser.
