K40 Laser Beam Combiner/Alignment Remix
thingiverse
I was drawn to the concept of this beam combiner setup but had reservations about assembling it using glue. To solve this issue, I reworked the design to incorporate M3 screws and provided pockets for M3 nuts within the body. This modification eliminates the need for an extra plate or adhesive. The round baseplate functions effectively on its own, but to avoid any bonding, I introduced a pair of recesses to accommodate 3/8"x1/16" neodymium magnets, allowing it to snap into place seamlessly. The rest of the design remains unchanged, except for not requiring the faceplate to secure the nuts in position. A seller on Ebay offers the combiner lens at an affordable price point of under $40. I'm currently waiting for my ordered lens to arrive from overseas, which has been delayed due to shipping constraints. To print this setup, I recommend printing the base flat with supports touching the bed, while the body can be printed without any supports and still turn out well.
