k40 CO2 Laser Dial Cover and Shim!

One of the biggest pitfalls of the eBay k40 CO2 laser is its intensity control, which is also one of the most cost-effective upgrades available. The intensity control is simply a low-quality 1k ohm potentiometer, so we upgraded ours to a higher-grade carbon film unit (see more at https://amzn.to/2Tw0XTN). With this upgrade, we significantly reduced the risk of future failures, improved resolution, and gained scale that we can reference against the current meter to create a cheat sheet for our recipes. However, we encountered two minor issues: first, a protrusion on the potentiometer required us to design a custom shim so it would set flat; second, we needed a cover for the scale to sit in, which also helped make it look better by covering some of the graphics that now appear out of place with the new scale.
