As you all know, the air exhaust that comes out of the K40 is a piece of junk. I'm currently assembling a replacement and plan to use an in-hose ventilator and 160mm flexible hose to hopefully get better performance. Also, I'll remove the exhaust inside the working area. The new exhaust splits into two parts. It didn't fit on the printing bed with the 160mm-sized exhaust port, so I suggest printing Part1 with the rectangular connection port placed on the printing bed first. There should be no support needed. Print Part2 with the round exhaust port on the printing bed next, and again, no support is necessary. This method minimizes scaling issues since the axes are simply mirrored for the object. The X/Y axis does not change, so you won't encounter problems gluing the two parts together. Some printers may be off in X/Y and cause issues with gluing the parts together. I'll try printing this thing by tomorrow. It's estimated to take about 4 hours for both parts. I'll print using a speed of 5600mm/min. I'll keep you posted if it works out okay. By the way, I just realized that I'm an idiot. I ordered a 125mm hose and fan because they have more power. So let me know if this one works out. I'll add a 125mm exhaust shortly. That one should print in one piece. Yes... it fits perfectly on the print bed of my replicator. UPDATE 1: So, I printed and coated the 125mm exhaust to make it air-tight. It fits perfectly on the exhaust port. I took some pictures for you to see. Make sure to put the bottom screw from the inside of the cutter in place first. The other three screws fit as usual. I assume the 160mm version also fits nicely since it's basically the same model with a different hose connector. UPDATE 2: I added a filter cartridge that fits inside the exhaust. You can put something like a carbon filter between both parts. They interlock and can be placed in the round outlet of the exhaust. Print Settings Printer: CTC Replicator Clone Rafts: Doesn't Matter Supports: Doesn't Matter Resolution: 0.3mm Infill: 33% Notes: Work in progress! Don't blame me if it doesn't work out for you! Post-Printing Glue parts together Hopefully, you printed both parts as I described above. You should be able to glue the two parts together with some strong glue. I use PLA most of the time. Maybe ABS makes sense with solvent-containing glues.
