Some people have difficulties moving their arms, making even the simplest actions annoyingly complicated. For instance, they require assistance to drink. A way to drink without external help is using a straw in a glass. However, straws tend to fall from full glasses and slip away from the approaching mouth of a thirsty person. This straw holder exists in two versions: one for children (whale-shaped) and another one for adults (simpler and more functional). Thanks to this device, a straw can be fixed on a glass, preventing falls and uncontrolled movements of the straw. As small as an object it may be, it's a great step towards achieving autonomy for disabled people. Designed with occupational therapists' help at the RehabLab of the CMRRF in Kerpape, France.
