K-Nils Adapter

K-Nils Adapter

This adapter will allow you to remove the auger head from a K-Drill shaft and use a Nils auger head in it's place. The K-Drill auger head is bolted and glued into place. Remove the drill adapter from the shaft, then the foam, the peel the label off the shaft, then remove the flight collar and flights. Next remove the blades from the auger head. Once the K-Drill is complete disassembled, remove the bolt from the auger head and then apply lots of heat to the area where the shaft goes into the auger head, this will loosen the glue. Using a rubber hammer tap the head to remove it from the shaft. Clean the shaft to remove the old glue, I used a wire wheel on a rotary tool. Next drill the mounting hole larger to accept the 1/4" bolt used in the Nils auger head. Re-assemble the K-Drill with the adapter. It should also be noted that I also added an extra piece of foam to help float the extra weight of the Nils auger head, this hasn't been tested yet! Before putting the Nils auger head onto the K-Drill shaft you will need to remove a small bit of material from the flight extension. I used a cut off wheel on a rotary tool to remove this, maybe 3/16" or so. After that you can put the Nils auger head into the adapter/K-Drill shaft and bolt it in. Enjoy!
