(K)night Stand Miniature

DesignThe idea came to me when thinking of designs for the Print Tables contest. As the contest theme was based on a pun, it only seemed fitting to use that in my design. The Knight Stand is a miniature, fully-functional, medieval-themed night stand. Although it's not actually a full scale night stand, it is large enough to hold smaller items, such as collectibles. The entire model and detailing work was created in Onshape. The stones on the frame were modeled using a vector image of a castle wall, which was converted into DXF in Inkscape and imported into Onshape. Some of the DXF needed to be corrected by hand so it fit on the sides of the frame and could be extruded. The imperfections on the “wooden” planks for the doors and drawer were individually modeled by hand. Printing and Assembly TipsThis will require multiple prints, and I personally used multiple filament colors. Essentially, the frame, doors, and drawer will all need to be printed separately. I used a 0.5mm nozzle to help speed up the print time and modified the layer height for the different parts to maximize details where needed. I've included gcode files for both single and two color/material prints. To assemble the components, simply snap the ball joints on the doors into the appropriate locations on the frame and slide the drawer into the top section of the frame. Please like it if you do and leave any comments!Check out my TikTok!Check out my YouTube! If you like what you see, please consider contributing to my Patreon.
