K'nex Polyhedra
thingiverse
These are specialized connectors designed to work seamlessly with K'nex rods, enabling the construction of intricate polyhedra models. Manufactured from PLA, these rods are engineered to snap into place effortlessly, however, it's essential to note that repeated use will cause the connector to gradually lose its springiness. I'm eager to know if they perform better when made from ABS - please share your findings if you decide to try it! It's worth noting that all edges have equal lengths, allowing for maximum flexibility in rod selection. Rhombicosadodecahedron: Construct with 60 connectors and 120 rods. Rhombic Dodecahedron: Combine 6 of rhombicDodeca1, 8 of rhombicDodeca2, and 24 rods. Snub Dodecahedron: Build using 60 connectors and 150 rods. Rhombic Triacontahedron: Assemble with 12 of rhombicTriaConta1, 20 of rhombicTriaConta2, and 60 rods. Vertex angles were calculated using Great Stella software, while the parts were modeled in OpenSCAD (source code included).
