K'NEX Chain-Guide Clip
thingiverse
These chain guide clips create a "trough" for the chain to slide through for the SS K'nex roller coaster models. Whether you want to create a cleaner looking lift hill or want to hold the chain tight to the track for an inverted roller coaster model, this may be a solution for you. The additional items you will need are #4-40 screws* (around 3/8" in length) to connect each of the clips to the K'nex track pieces (as show in the above pictures) as well as the original K'nex roller coaster track rails (orange plastic rails) to run the length of the lift hill on both sides of the clip. From personal experience, these clips have been used on traditional above-rail roller coasters at the base of lift hills to keep the chain from sitting high above the track between track transitions as well as on an inverted track position to keep the chain from freely-hanging below the track (see pictures). We added the clips to every third or fourth K'nex "track" piece with additional clips added at the top or base of the lift hill to ensure a smooth running surface for the chain. If you have any comments or suggestions for this 3d model, please leave them below, thanks! *M3 screws (metric) are very similar in diameter to #4-40 and can be used in place of #4-40 screws if need be.
