Tool to cut K-Cups for recycling purposes Cutting off the top of a K-Cup is now possible with this tool, allowing it to be recycled more efficiently. The small plastic ring on the aluminum top remains, but using this tool is far better than disposing of the entire K-Cup. This tool uses a standard razor blade, an M3 nut, and screw in its construction. Update 3/9/2017 - New Version Added A new version has been added which positions the Blade 1mm higher. This adjustment fixes an issue where some K-Cups were glued to the sides and tore when being opened. Post-Printing Instructions Step 1: Print Print the tool with supports enabled in Cura software. It is unknown if it can be printed without supports, so they are recommended. Step 2: Remove Support Material Remove all support material from the printed tool using a small screwdriver. Step 3: Insert Nut Press fit the M3 nut into the bottom of the tool using a pair of pliers. The nut fits snugly in place. Step 4: Assemble Assemble the entire tool and secure it together with an M3 screw. A 10mm screw is recommended, but smaller screws such as 5mm may also be used. Step 5: Adjust Blade and Tighten Adjust the blade until the desired amount of blade is exposed. The full available length was used in this instance, however the razor blade was very dull.
