K-Cup cutter
thingiverse
Designed a 3d print to cut the bottoms out of K-cups to eliminate "bursting" of the foil lid. Has happened a number of times on both of our coffee makers. I believe what is happening is the poker in the bottom of the K-cup holder also pierces the filter inside the pod, (some brands more than others) gets plugged up with grounds, builds up pressure in the K-cup which ruptures the foil lid and makes an incredible mess. The cutter has a slot in it which holds a common utility knife blade just high enough to cut out a circular portion from the bottom of the K-cup so if the poker gets plugged up, there will be no pressure to build up and burst the foil top. If the poker does pierce the filter and gets plugged, you may get a few grounds in your coffee, but not all over the kitchen. Printed with support, and 25% infill. Use needle nose plyers to install the utility knife blade. Put slight pressure on the K-cup while turning it clockwise.
