A comprehensive, highly detailed model of the K-8 Karakorum Fighter Jet is available for use, featuring intricate textures that include diffuse and bump maps. The maximum dimension of these textures reaches a staggering 4096 pixels. History The collaborative effort between China and Pakistan to develop the K-8 Karakorum jet trainer was initially set to incorporate significant American components, including Garrett engines and avionics from Collins and Magnavox. However, this project was put at risk due to US restrictions imposed following the June 1989 Tienanmen Square massacre. Manufacture of four prototypes began in January 1989, and the first flight test took place on November 21, 1990. By the end of 1996, a total of 12 aircraft had been delivered, with six going to China and six to Pakistan. Despite initial plans for domestic series production by Pakistan in 1994, this never materialized. The original plan called for up to 75 aircraft to be produced for Pakistan, but by early 1996, as many as 100 were reportedly desired to replace aging Cessna T-37 trainers. The Chinese requirement may extend to several hundred, with the possibility of using Progress AI-25 turbofans imported from Russia beginning in 1997.
