Ikea Järvfjället recline replacement part How to access the part. Take off cushion. Shift the chair just enough into locking position so that the spring is exposed. Take a ziptie and feed it under the spring. Pull enough so it releases and let it fall into the chair. Remove the two screws that constricts the cushion slide metal thingy and pull the lever high up and slide the it off. Take something pointy and whack the two shiny metal pins that holds the plastic cover on the front. Now you should be able to see the inner workings and identify if it is the same part that needs replacing. Most probably is because it's poorly designed for it's unnecessary thin. Use some tweezers to guide the pin that's responsible for the locking of the backrest and make it lock in the furthest back position. (Easier to access things.) Unscrew the screws (two, one obvious on the right and one from the front of the plastic cover that you removed. See pictures) that screw into height/recline lever. (Leave the spring on the plastic part screw alone.) Yank the lever out of the body and replace the part. For reassemble there's only one tip I can give. Use a long locked ziptie to get the cushion slide spring back into place.
