Juvenile Chicken Prosthetic Limb and Strap
thingiverse
Talented & Gifted program students from Cabell County, West Virginia -around the city of Huntington- devise innovative approaches for addressing a young chicken with a disability. The chicken's leg is severely twisted from birth, severely limiting its ability to thrive; a juvenile of the same age hatches alongside it as a poignant reminder of its condition. Students draw inspiration from common points between their proposed solutions, generating an initial design that showcases their collective ingenuity. Lessons on harnessing the economy of ideas, downloading and modifying models from Thingiverse, designing from scratch, scaling real-world objects to the virtual world, testing, iterating designs, and post-processing 3D printed models reveal a remarkable depth of understanding.
