The colossal bust of Zeus known as "Jupiter of Versailles" was unearthed near the Porta del Popolo in Rome in 1525. In 1623, it was gifted to Louis XIV, who commissioned Jacques Drouilly to convert the masterpiece into a herm pillar. This magnificent marble statue dates back to the 2nd century AD, but the brilliant artist behind its creation remains unknown.
