Jupiter

The statue vividly depicts Jupiter wielding a goatskin shield adorned with the head of a Gorgon at its center. This powerful shield, known as the Aegis, was used by Zeus in battle and earned him the title Aegiochus, or Holder of the Shield. Following this, Roman Senator Neratius Palmatus inscribed a dedication to Jupiter Optimus Maximus on the base of the statue, likely at his own residence. This magnificent work of art can be found in Rome, situated at the intersection of Piazza dei Cinquecento and Via Cavour, dating back to the 4th-5th century AD. This remarkable object is part of the "Scan The World" initiative, a charitable project spearheaded by MyMiniFactory. Through this endeavor, we are compiling a digital library of fully printable sculptures, artworks, and landmarks from around the globe for public access at no cost. "Scan The World" is an open-source community effort, and if you have intriguing items nearby that you'd like to contribute, email stw@myminifactory.com to learn how you can participate.
