Juno is a legendary Roman goddess who protected and advised the state. She was born as Saturn's child and married her brother Jupiter, becoming the mother of Mars and Vulcan. Juno also cared for the women of Rome. In Greek mythology, Hera represents Juno, while in Etruscan culture, Uni is her counterpart. As the patron goddess of Rome and the Roman Empire, Juno was honored as Regina, or "Queen," and worshipped alongside Jupiter and Minerva on the Capitol Hill (Juno Capitolina) in Rome. Juno's fierce aspect among Romans is evident in her attire. She often appeared sitting with a peacock, armed and wearing a goatskin cloak. This traditional depiction of Juno's warlike aspect was inspired by Greek goddess Hera, who wore a goatskin called the 'aegis'.
