Junkion lead screw based 3d printer
thingiverse
This is an incredible project my daughter and I tackled to design a 3D printer entirely from scratch without spending a single penny on components. Every part was custom-made, so I won't be surprised if this doesn't work for many others, but I'm thrilled with the machine's surprising quietness and reliability. We had to use a lead screw on the Y-axis because that's what we had available, plus the bed weighed around 4 pounds, necessitating extra care in oiling and isolating the aluminum components. As you'll notice in the video, despite the Titan extruder clattering away, this machine remains impressively quiet. Check out our printer in action at https://youtu.be/o-UWYGsXUYM
