My daughter's fifth-grade class has a "junk band" project, so we created a 3D-printed violin toy that actually plays music. We updated the design to include pegV2.stl with a wider knob for better leverage. To print all pieces without a raft and with flat sides down, we used ABS at 15% fill. After cleaning the neck joint on the body with sandpaper, we glued the neck and nut together using 5-minute epoxy. Then, we attached the neck to the body. We fitted the bridge without glue, sanding the inside edges of the feet until they fit snugly into the holes. For strings, a guitar D/G string or suitable violin string worked best, with an A or E string being less effective. If the peg slips, apply superglue to it. Once everything was dry and assembled, we tied a smooth ribbon through the bow's holes for tension, coated the ribbon and strings with rosin, and enjoyed playing our musical 3D-printed violin while amusing the cat.
