Julius Caesar

myminifactory

Commissioned in 1696 to create a correspondence with Annibal of Slodtz for the Versailles park, the work was completed and paid for in 1713. In 1722, it was transferred from the Louvre's antiquities room to its new home at the Jardin des Tuileries, where it remains today, as indicated by the date inscribed on its base. Meanwhile, a terracotta maquette of the sculpture is proudly displayed within Girardon's crypt.
