In the early days of the bicycle city, a turning point emerged that would forever alter the transportation landscape. The 1950s saw cars claim their rightful place as the dominant force on the road, relegating bicycles to an inferior status - often referred to as "boneshakers" for those who couldn't afford better. Amidst this shift, Karl Zakosteletzki sensed an opportunity and took bold action. He founded driving school Zako in 1947, a pioneering move that would position him at the forefront of his time. Recognizing the importance of education, he extended his services to include traffic instruction for children, a forward-thinking decision that would leave a lasting impact on generations to come.
