Jules Bastien-Lepage was a French painter who played a key role in shaping the early days of naturalism, an artistic style that grew out of the later phases of the Realist movement. Following his passing, Rodin drew inspiration from his contributions to the art world and crafted this bronze statue as a tribute to his life's work.
