Jugadores de pelota, El Opeño, Michoacán
sketchfab
These figurines molded from clay depict a group of ballplayers accompanied by three women. The players stand out for their attire, which includes leg protection and a bat to strike the ball. The set was rescued from one of the tombs explored in 1970 at the site known as El Opeño, municipality of Jacona, Michoacán. The tomb and offerings were dated around 1500-1200 B.C., which not only gives importance to the game and its context but also to the type of recreational activities that have been practiced in the West ever since.
