Joyeuse - Charlemagne's personal sword, modeled with precision using 3ds max and Zbrush, and textured with intricate detail by Substance painter. The name Joyeuse (pronounced Jwa-Joze), Old French for "joyful," is the legendary title given to Charlemagne's trusty sword. A replica of Joyeuse was carried proudly at the head of coronation processions for French monarchs, first in 1270 by Philip III and lastly in 1824 by Charles X. This iconic sword had been housed in the Saint Denis Basilica since at least 1505 before being relocated to the Louvre Museum in 1793.
