Joycon Rail Mockup
thingiverse
This is a very basic model of the Nintendo Switch Joycon rails, perfect for Rhino users who need a reference point when creating a Joycon holster or similar design. Simply run a BooleanDifference operation and you'll have the slots you need in no time. The model comes in both .3dm and .stl formats, with everything saved as separate polysurfaces in the .3dm version. The rail is slightly deeper than required, but it's worked perfectly fine for friction-fit gear so far. This basic design captures the average thickness of the Joycon, but doesn't include the bulge towards the ZR/ZL buttons or chamfering used on the originals, as those details are not necessary for the rails alone. If you'd like to add those features and remix this model into other controller designs, just let me know - I'd love to see it happen!
