Joy Division's Unknown Pleasures
thingiverse
The initial Peter Saville-designed cover of Joy Division's "Unknown Pleasures" album, featuring PSR B1919+21 waveforms, has made its way to London Science Museum as part of the exhibition "3D: Printing the Future." The original Processing sketch was altered due to non-manifold issues in the model; it was rewritten to generate DXF files for extrusion with OpenSCAD. A detailed breakdown and the Processing sketch can be viewed at i.document.m05.de. Testing of the printed item is scheduled for next week, with MakerWare used for printing on a Makerbot Replicator using white PLA. Despite this, some errors persist which may be attributed to the Replicator's plunger mechanism. The exhibit at the science museum can be accessed through this link: http://science-museum-3d-printing.tumblr.com/post/64208301940/from-left-to-right-pen-holder-white-donated-by. Slicer defects were observed with MakerBot's Slicer, while Skeinforge proved more effective in the process.
