Journeyman Memorial Stone - Washington Monument

The Journeyman plaque is proudly displayed inside the Washington Monument, a gift from a labor union that made significant strides in the 19th Century. For over 160 years, American states, organizations, and even foreign governments have paid tribute to General George Washington's enduring ideals by presenting commemorative gifts to the Washington Monument. The monument has been honored with memorial stones from all 50 states, numerous fraternal and community organizations, cities, and towns across America, as well as 16 foreign countries. Most of these stones were received between 1849 and 1855.
