Joule Thief
thingiverse
This nifty little gadget requires a nearly dead AA battery and holds a Joule thief circuit together with a 3mm LED in place.\r\n\r\nI assembled the circuit onto a 13mm by 14mm piece of perf board that fits neatly into the compartment up front, secured by some hot glue.\r\n\r\nThe positive wire is threaded through a hole to crumpled aluminum foil serving as the positive terminal of the battery holder.\r\nNegative wire runs all the way back to a slot that takes an M3 nut; I squished the wire down with some more aluminum foil against the but until an M3 screw can be inserted, which presses against the battery and keeps it in place.\r\n\r\nThe holder itself has spherical indents on the bottom to reduce warping forces during printing, resulting in easy prints without brim or supports, no post-processing needed for the print.\r\n\r\nFor a detailed explanation of the circuit itself, please check out Big Clive's description or video at:\r\nhttp://www.bigclive.com/joule.htm\r\nhttps://youtu.be/K53beWYdIpc\r\n\r\nI couldn't possibly explain it as clearly with all the theory included... essentially I designed this thing to house this captivating circuit!!
