The Joto is a remote drawing board that allows users to draw on paper while utilizing freely available pens with the help of adapters. These adapters enable both functionality, solving the current ink-drying problem associated with traditional drawing tools. When using the adapters, it's essential to remove them after use to prevent any potential issues. However, some pens, like the Staedtler pen, can last a long time without being capped due to their design. The adapters are specifically designed for Berol Dry Wipe, Faber Double Ended, and the Staedtler 309 pens. The Berol is ideal for drawing on the Joto surface as it wipes off very easily. Other pens may also fit, but users can utilize a blank adapter provided for their own pen or pencil. All three pens have the same frame design and screw knob, making them interchangeable. However, these adapters are currently in development and intended for testing purposes only. It's crucial to avoid using permanent pens on the Joto surface to prevent damage. Users should be aware that they use these adapters at their own risk, as I am not affiliated with Joto or responsible for any potential issues arising from their use. When printing the adapters, a good approach is to use PLA material with three outlines at 24% infill and 70% speed, ensuring minimal support. To assemble the adapter, apply a small amount of glue to secure the two parts of the frame. The use of foam cubes provides enough "spring" for pens to retract and return, while cleaning sponges or similar materials can be used as an alternative. Depending on the printer, users might need to trim the mounting area slightly to facilitate attachment. In addition to the adapters, a M3 cap head screw and nut are required for assembly. I will upload additional pen holders as needed. So far, I have achieved success with all three holders in use. When setting up the adapter, it's recommended to use blank paper to set the height of the pen through the Joto App, ensuring consistent drawing across the drawing area. Furthermore, users should be cautious not to allow permanent ink to bleed through to the Joto surface when drawing on paper. Interestingly, I have found that pens tend not to dry out as quickly as the Joto nib and ink well, and a sealing solution is often unnecessary. However, this may depend on the specific pen being used. It's also worth noting that Biros and pencils do not tend to dry out, and users can always remove the pen and replace it with the cap if needed.
