Joseph Joseph Intelligent Waste Totem (60L) Lid Catch
thingiverse
This replaces the whole catch on the Joseph Joseph Intelligent Waste Totem (60L) bin - the hinge pin lugs tend to break and the catch fails. You will need two M3 Nyloc nuts and two M3/12 screws (I use A2 stainless as kitchens tend to be moist places, and button head hex cap screws because ... I like hex / torx more than crosshead). To use this, remove the whole catch (easy if one lug has failed) and pull off the two springs (you need these, the spring tension is quite specific) and use a heat gun (or hair drier) to heat the metal top and loosen the glue it is held by. Remove the metal top.Print the model (I used my SLA Anycubic Photon Mono with Anycubic ABS-Like Resin+ and the manufacturer recommended print settings, using Lychee slicer in "Magic ... I'm feeling lucky" mode to orient and generate supports.Fit the hinge pins to the main body so the pins face outward using the screws and nuts so they are loose enough to slide. Fit the springs to the posts, and slide the hinges to the middle of the body. Fit the catch lip to the body, ensuring that the springs locate on their bin posts. push the front down and slide the hinge pins until the locate, then tighten the screws to secure them with the body nicely central. check the catch moves freely - move the pins inward slightly if not. Test the catch - very gentle pressure on the catch should release the lid but it should be secure otherwise. use thin double sided tape or epoxy glue to refit the metal cover and it should look like it was designed to be there.
