Jomo LITE40 re-casing mod
thingiverse
I always liked the Jomo LITE40 boxmod, nice and simple, providing plenty of power for your vaping needs. However, anyone who has owned one will have no doubt encountered its significant flaw. The USB charging port tends to stop working without warning, leaving you with a box mod that can't charge its own soldered-in battery. I made this design to address the issue. It's surprisingly simple, really. First, strip out the electronics from the original box casing by removing two screws on top and two screws on the bottom. Then, slide everything out of the top, discard the main casing and base plate, snip off the stock battery as close as possible to the battery itself, and slide the electronics down through the top of the new 3D-printed casing (make sure to position the button beforehand). Secure it by screwing two screws back through the top plate into the 3D part. Next, extend the live wire a few inches with appropriate gauge wire and solder the live and negative wires to the correct points on a 18650 battery holder. I like these types: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1PCS-Plastic-Battery-Case-Holder-Storage-Box-for-18650-Batteries-3-7V-BAlack-DG-/122342278932?hash=item1c7c2b0714:g:wzkAAOSwVm5Y9c-F Slot the holder into the back of the casing, loosen the top screws a bit so the holder can sit snugly against the inner lip, and then screw them back down again. Finally, screw in the two bottom ones and you're done. Now you can use any 18650 battery you prefer and charge it externally on a cheap 18650 USB charger. You can even reuse the original stock 18650s if you desolder the remaining wire from its top and bottom.
