Joist Cable Hanger -

I do all my hobby work in a large, unfinished basement of a recently-built house where the upper floor is constructed of manufactured I-beam joists. Electrical power comes from boxes in the ceiling - usually not in the spot needed for the work. A quick and easy solution was required to hang large extension cords as well as long ethernet and audio cables without cutting holes or driving screws. I designed these hangers to easily slip on and off an I-beam joist, strong enough to hold up heavy electrical cords without using fasteners or glue. They are surprisingly sturdy despite their simplicity. Each one is a quick print at Medium resolution. There are 3 cord capacities in 2 orientations: inline and cross. The 2-cord versions are usually printed for the basement. The thin, springy part of the hanger clip was based on this design by area51 from Thingiverse. The hangers are sized to fit the joists in my house (1-3/4" x 1-3/8"). This size is fairly common in new construction, so they may appeal to a wide audience. They were designed in OpenScad but the code is not currently ready for the Thingiverse Customizer. However, sets can be created for joists with different dimensions if desired, though no testing will be possible.
