Jointless Iris mechanism, compliant design
thingiverse
Jointless Iris Mechanism, printed in one seamless piece using standard PLA filament. The design draws inspiration from Flexsys, but was completely reimagined from scratch after four prototypes were refined to meet expectations. For optimal printing results, use 10% support material, then carefully remove it with a spatula once the print is complete. I utilized standard PLA filament with a layer height of 0.2mm for this project. To enhance flexibility and durability, consider adjusting the wall thickness under "shell" settings in Cura to 2mm. This modification will allow the mechanism to bend more smoothly.
