John Ewart's monument is situated at the entrance of St Cuthbert's Graveyard. The gate was constructed in the 18th century, but it is claimed that the stone used came from Kirkcudbright's old town gate. Ewart's Monument was erected in 1642 to honor his sons John and Andrew.
