In a demonstration of 3D printing, people admired my Fairbanks Morse Hit and Miss Engine but desired a John Deere model. Minnesota has many John Deere collectors, so I decided to create a model from scratch. The smaller-sized Type E engines varied from 1.5 to 6 horsepower and featured unique designs. My model is a 1/10 scale representation of the 1.5 hp engine with wood skids painted in John Deere green. These mini engines are still popular for powering ice cream makers, and the fuel line connecting the gas tank to the cylinder head requires some reaming for proper fit.
