John Deere Starter Recoil Housing 2BV Leaf Blower and others
thingiverse
This is the starter recoil housing used on my John Deere 2BV leaf blower. From what I've seen, this will also fit others that look similar. I understand these were also used on weed whackers, leaf blowers and other small two-stroke implements. If nothing else and you aren't sure, print in bad quality (fast) and see if it will fit. On the factory one, the center pin snapped off. So as a learning experience for me, I re-designed the cover from scratch. Here it is. Thus far, it's nearly identical to the factory cover and all internals are installed and seem to run fine. MAKE SURE YOU PRINT IN APB or at 100% infill. My first iteration (50% infill) cracked as there was not enough support, plus it was in PLA. You will want supports for this print, and you will also need a 5x0.8mm tap for the center. If you do not have the tap, you "should" be able to just thread the screw in, but I'm not sure if that will expand the center post that the pulley spins on. Other than that, it should work just fine and save about $50 that the new ones cost. I printed mine with PLA, but for longevity, I would strongly suggest using ABS. You need to remove the parts from the old unit including the phonelic cord guide. This can be removed by twisting and pulling with pliers as it is just pressed into the factory housing.
