JLB Racing Cheetah Differential Gearbox Stiffener

JLB Racing Cheetah Differential Gearbox Stiffener

The differential gearbox housings of the JLB Racing Cheetah truggy are woefully inadequate when it comes to stiffness, resulting in a gear mesh that's severely off-kilter during heavy torque loads. This lack of sturdiness causes the sinter-pressed steel bevel gears to crack under the strain. To mitigate this issue, I propose treating the bevel gears with a thermal process that will render them less brittle. Simply place them in your oven for approximately 30 minutes at 250°C, and they should emerge with a blue surface finish. This treatment will impart a subtle softening effect on the gears, making them more resilient to heavy loads. However, to truly address the stiffness concerns of the gearbox housing, I recommend fabricating a stiffener using 3D printing technology. Utilize PLA filament with a sheet thickness of 0.3mm and an infill density of 100%. Once printed, secure the stiffener to the gearbox housing via screws and a two-component adhesive, ensuring a robust and durable bond that will withstand even the most demanding torque loads.
