I've crafted a model based on information gathered from the web: http://naruto3dmodels.blogspot.com. The smoothering process involved: Repaired using NetFab. Turbosmooth iteration (2) executed in 3ds Max. Repaired with MeshMixer. Cutting was done with NetFab. Final repairs were completed with NetFab.
