Jingle Ball Cat Toy

Jingle Ball Cat Toy

thingiverse

This cat toy ball boasts a simple design, ideal for rapid printing. Previous attempts at similar toys required much support material. It features two snugly fitting domes with pegs instead of glue, inspired by a popular kitty toy. The smaller size and enclosed design are based on the latter. Use it as is, insert a jingle bell or hide catnip inside. OpenSCAD novices can utilize the provided *.scad file, which is well-organized and relatively easy to comprehend. To print, produce two domes and one set of pegs. The pieces will naturally click together. For optimal results, employ a raft for each dome (no support needed), 25% infill, and two additional shells for the pegs. After printing, remove excess plastic from the raft and pegs' inner apex. Sand the domes' base on 100-grit sandpaper for a smooth fit. Different printers yield varying tolerances; adjust peg size or apply superglue as needed. The source code contains a tolerance setting for personalized results.
