Prusa i3 Rework Compact Extruder for 1.75mm and 3mm filaments, designed based on the Wade Extruder but significantly smaller in size. This Compact design came with new problems due to the shorten of the Jhead hotend. One notable issue was the x-carriage distance to the glass, only 9 mm, which resulted in the x-carriage catching bulldog clips on both the back and front of the heated bed when printing long prints. The solution was simple: use smaller clips on the sides. Another problem that arose was the need for a lowered Z-Axis Endstop. However, this wasn't an issue for me as I'm using a micro endstop attached to a smooth rod that can be adjusted. It was necessary for me to just slide it down a bit. Check your own Z-Axis Endstop to ensure it can be sufficiently lowered to accommodate the compact extruder before committing to installation. Here are the parts used: Extruder Body: Wade's Hobbed Bolt M8 x 60mm, featuring a central groove - 30mm. I used Prusa Extruder Springs from Ulimachine. Guidler: Two versions were designed, one for 1.75 filaments using an M3x40 mm bolt and the other for 3mm filaments using an M3x50 mm bolt. Optional Step: Filing down the M8x20 mm grub was necessary to get the 608z ball bearing as close to the hobbed bolt as possible, especially when printing 1.75mm flexible filaments. This ensured optimal performance. Jhead Clamp: Two - M3x30mm bolts with washers and nuts were used. Jhead Shroud: A forty-millimeter version of this design requires attaching shroud to extruder body using one - M3x15 mm bolt & nut and four - M3x20 mm bolts & nuts to secure 40mm fan and i3 cover. However, attach the shroud first. Another version used an additional fifteen millimeter version with two thirty millimeters that utilized 4 Plastfast30 x 16 screws and one M3x15mm bolt & nut for attachment. For a more optimal print, you should attach shroud first and then proceed to attaching the fan. A different method of attaching a thirty-millimeter fan to a 50 millimeter Fan Duct can be implemented by utilizing five M3 x 20 mm bolts with washers and nuts.
