JGMaker Magic Flex Filament Extruder Upgrade
thingiverse
Like many others, I too was facing challenges in printing TPU using my Bowden extruder, specifically a JGMaker (JGAurora) Magic 3D printer. Initially, I used thing:3485470 for the Ender 3, but required re-rendering to adjust the feed hole height, spring length, and other dimensions compatible with my Magic. I have uploaded the STEP file here, allowing others to make further modifications without starting from scratch. Now, I'm printing TPU with no issues at 30 mm/sec and could potentially print faster. Others have replaced the plastic tube between the extruder and nozzle with a higher quality one, supposedly reducing friction, but I didn't take that step. I've successfully used this extruder with TPU flow rates up to 110% without any problems. The only issue I encountered was with a specific brand of TPU that was tightly wound onto its spool and tended to stick together. The extruder struggled to pull the filament, causing it to slip. To resolve this, I removed sufficient filament from the spool and laid it across the room, allowing the extruder to freely draw it in. This wasn't necessary with two other TPU spools or several PLA and one ABS spool, suggesting that the issue was specific to that particular TPU spool rather than a problem with the extruder itself.
