JGAURORA A5 Z Gantry Stiffener
thingiverse
The A5 is actually a pretty solid printer. It has its share of good points, but also some not-so-good ones. For me, one major issue is the stiffness of the Z grantry. Compared to other machines like the CR10 or Tevo tornado and their clones, it falls short by far. So, my goal with this design is to increase the Z gantry's stiffness in order to minimize layer offset/shifting as much as possible. What you'll need for this project: - A bunch of 3D printed parts. - A piece of plywood measuring 630 x 540mm. - Four M8 threaded rods, each 540mm long. - Sixteen M8 nuts. - Twelve M8 washers. - A handful of wood screws. You'll also need to add two extra holes to the grantry to secure the upper bracket. One thing that's been bugging me is the spool holder. It's super difficult to remove the spool from it now. To fix this, I'm designing a new spool holder with a removable axis. Stay tuned for updates on this project. UPDATE: 09/11/18 I've added a tools holder between the booms.
